News of Chairman’s Curry Night held on Thursday 11 December 2025

In the absence of a scheduled 41 Club meeting in December Chairman Richard asked Secretary Mike to issue an invitation by email to all members inviting them to join him for a few beers followed by a curry at the Cinnamon Indian Restaurant on Dean Road.

4 members joined Chairman Richard, Vice Chairman Simon and 2 of Richard’s friends for the evening’s entertainment.

The evening started with some Lithuanian beer brewed in Scarborough at Edwin’s Home Brew a recently opened bar on Dean Road. This was following a recommendation from member David Henderson who by his own admission is always on the lookout for a new drinking experience. Unfortunately on the night the beer was somewhat lively with an excess of froth making it difficult to pour a full glass. After sampling the beers available the party decided to move on.

Richard and Simon enjoy a very small glass of Lithuanian beer!

To avoid having to walk too far the party ended up at the West Riding where the only redeeming feature was the ridiculously low prices charged for the beer. The clientele was such that it was safer not to make eye contact and the noise levels at a volume where conversation was next to impossible.

Somewhat deafened the party moved on finally to the restaurant where Chairman Richard was treated with the utmost deference. If only 41 Club members would give Richard the same respect! It transpired that Richard had been frequenting the restaurant for some time and was well known to the proprietors.

An excellent meal washed down with a few more beers/wines was enjoyed by those present. It was disappointing that more members had not availed themselves of Richard’s invitation and missed a thoroughly entertaining evening.
