88’s Roundabout 16 June 1995

Another souvenir from Tom Cathcart. This will bring back fond memories for some of the journey to and then home from the Denmark Eights meeting. The latter was via Germany, Belgium, France and the Channel Tunnel instead of across the sea to Newcastle as planned. Missing or mis-read documents featured heavily.

88’s Roundabout 29 July 1995

Thanks again to Tom Cathcart for keeping this memento. If you were in or around Table in 1995, open at your peril.

I think the Editor of the time was Ian Rhodes, unless anyone knows better?

88’s 60th Charter Thingummy – the Programme – 1995

Many thanks to Tom Cathcart for hanging on to this souvenir and sharing it. If I am any judge, the humour smacks of a certain Ian Rhodes. Rhodesy spared no-one in his descriptions, which still make me laugh even now, 25 years later.

Here’s the front cover. The full document is available below as a PDF to download and enjoy.

88’s 60th Charter and Aalten visit Vampires, 1995

This is from the Henderson archive.

This is a photo of vampirettes Ros Gregory and Wendy Henderson (Thompson).

We had arranged for our Dutch visitors to be taken by coach for a day trip to Whitby on Saturday, 6 October 1995. The coach was asked to halt at a pre-arranged lay-by stop on the northern edge of Hawsker.

Five vampires – Ros and Wendy, Eddie Gregory, Ian Cocker and David Henderson leapt out of the bushes and swarmed around the bus.

We climbed into the bus and demanded that they bring out their virgins or everyone would have to drink some other blood! Of course, there were no virgins available so everyone had to drink a glass of Bloody Mary which we had prepared in advance and served to them.

Good fun which, of course, our Dutch guests loved and it set them up for their day in Whitby.

We have some more photos of the vampires, but first we have to find them.

It was held at the Hotel St Nicholas, and included our Dutch guests from Aalten 88 for our regular twinning weekend, held at the same time.

Middle row (L-R): Mike Holliday, Richard Gretton, Andrew Boyes, Richard Grunwell, John Edwards, Peter Wilkinson, Peter Harriott, Richard Appleton.
Front row (L-R): Andrew Pindar, Steve Brown, Nigel Sheppard, Ian Cocker, David Duggleby, Tom Cathcart, Barry Denton.

All the Chairmen’s men, version two, below. TC has kindly supplied another version of this pic taken by the professional photographer for the evening.
