Christmas Message from the Chairman

2020 has been a very difficult year with the COVID-19 pandemic social distancing rules affecting most activities that we took for granted. Our own 41 Club has not been able to meet since earlier this year when your Committee had to make the decision to cancel all planned meetings until further notice.

The Committee did have a business meeting a couple of months ago with a socially distanced outdoor meeting in Tom’s garden, where we were kindly offered an array of beverages and Dave Ascough especially enjoyed Tom’s hospitality, not leaving until after midnight!

At this special time of the year, where we celebrate the birth of Jesus and the happiness that followed, let us hope that 2021 can bring us all happiness and that the vaccines developed will help to control the COVID-19 virus.

Have a lovely time over Christmas with your families and loved ones but stay safe. I look forward to seeing you all again sometime in 2021 when we are hopefully allowed to meet again. We have agreed with Ian Johnston, our kind treasurer, that the first 41 Club meeting of 2021 will be a really special one to celebrate our return.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all.

Stephen Slade
Chairman, Scarborough 41 Club
