88’s Roundabout May/June 1993

Many thanks again to Tom Cathcart.

This edition includes an item I am bound to mention, when we went to Blackpool for the 1992-1993 National Conference and AGM. 88 was presented with the cup for the best Table magazine for the past year (ahem!). That was some conference.

It is difficult to be sure of the edition date but it is early June, maybe, or in May of 1993.

Stuart Baines was Roundabout Editor during 1993-94.

88’s AGM 1993

With thanks to Tom Cathcart for the photo.

Left to right
Back row: Ian Rhodes, Andy Atkins, Chris Medlin, Richard Frank, Eric Jagger, David Duggleby
Middle row: David Henderson, Tom Cathcart, Graham Foulds, Peter Calow, Ian Burnett, Chris Tate, Richard Poor, Stuart Baines
Seated: Eddie Gregory, Steve Brown, Nigel Sheppard (Vice Chairman), Ian Cocker (Chairman), Richard Coulson (President), David McIntosh, Ian Brabbs

I managed to name all but one of the group as nearly all are, of course, still in Scarborough; my grateful thanks to Ian Brabbs for the missing name. That was of Chris Medlin who left to go to the Hull office of Alan Wood and partners (we believe) after a short stay in Scarborough 88.

Roundabout 1992-3 Colour Supplement

Many thanks to Stuart Baines for kindly submitting this.

When David Henderson was Roundabout Editor he asked Graham Foulds if he would make a collage of events from the year from photos he had collected/taken. It was called the “colour supplement”. It was Ian Cocker’s year as Chairman, 1992-3.

Humble brag: Roundabout won the National Round Table Newsletter of the Year that year, too. It was one of the highlights for 88 at the AGM and National Conference at Blackpool.

We’re hoping to get a full size PDF of this as soon as the lockdown ends.
