Many thanks to Malcolm Smith for suggesting one of the missing names and to Richard Appleton for confirming that he was once (in his own words, ahem) young, slim and good looking. I don’t think Specsavers were in business then.

88’s Chairman’s Night Menu, 1990

Many thanks to Simon Ward for this fine souvenir piece of silliness for his Chairman’s Night. You can view a PDF of the whole menu below, including some Pythonesque rat stuff.

88’s 60th Charter Thingummy – the Programme – 1995

Many thanks to Tom Cathcart for hanging on to this souvenir and sharing it. If I am any judge, the humour smacks of a certain Ian Rhodes. Rhodesy spared no-one in his descriptions, which still make me laugh even now, 25 years later.

Here’s the front cover. The full document is available below as a PDF to download and enjoy.

88’s visit to Aalten 2003

With many thanks to Mark Laws for the photograph and the recollection (photo not for the faint of heart).

Mark writes: clearing out my study I found this picture of me (88 Chairman 2002-2003) and fellow GP Charles Saffman in Aalten doing our version of the Cheeky Girls as part of the Cabaret that night. There was a version of Electric Six involving Dale Casson and Ian Rhodes with Tatu and Steve Slade with Graham Foulds, I think.

1188: The Banner That Never Was, 1980-81

Many thanks to Ken Eley for his photograph.

Ken writes:
This is a picture of a prototype banner for Castle 1188 that prompted a great deal of humour and division during my year as Chairman in 1980/81, and which was ultimately given the thumbs down by members and consigned to the bin.

It became “The Banner That Never Was”.

The interesting thing about it is that it has the names and roles of the Table Council for that year printed on it.
